Primary Functions

 
Program Design, Development, Implementation and Assessment
  • Design, implement, and evaluate theory-based and evidence-informed health promotion strategies, policies, programs, and services.
  • Programs will focus on overall health and wellness to include mental health concerns, alcohol and other drug education, suicide awareness and prevention.
  • Plan, develop and complete program assessments (minimum of annually) to evaluate program and service efficiency and effectiveness Develop strategies and programs to target at-risk groups based on assessments.
  • Coordinate the development, distribution and maintaining of wellness program materials including educational materials, marketing materials, website and program related forms and documents.
  • Work with the Associate Dean for Student Affairs to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive databases and files related to each program. Develop and maintain program time lines. Track deadlines for program components and deliverable.
  • Report program progress and outcomes to program stakeholders. Provide input on the program design for the continuous improvement of the program. Participate on appropriate committees relevant to the advancement of the wellness program.
Insurance Programs
  • In collaboration with the Graduate School, Academic Affairs Administration and the student insurance group coordinate insurance renewal process and plans with insurance brokers including plan options, renewals, communication and enrollment.
  • Coordinate and process enrollment, including open enrollment, waivers, cancellations and continuance. Maintain associated records in the student record system working closely with student accounts, registrar and the insurance broker to ensure timely enrollment, billing and reconciliation of invoices.
  • Work collaboratively with appropriate academic and campus departments to ensure compliance of student required immunizations, flu shots and other required health records are current and maintained.
  • Serve as the primary resource for students and their families on student insurance coverage and questions.
Program Administration
  • Develop and manage program budgets including equipment inventory, maintenance tracking and agreements for Tonkens exercise equipment.
  • Oversee and trouble shoot student health incidents, issues and billings.
  • Report program progress and outcomes to program stakeholders. Implement program and service design for the continuous improvement of the program. Participate on appropriate committees relevant to the advancement of the wellness program.
  • Organize internal and external meetings, advisory committees, site visits, workshops and special events. Plan, coordinate and manage meetings, conferences and workshop schedules and logistics for each meeting/event.
  • Participate in University policy development on wellness related issues. Ensure area policies and protocols are in compliance with university policies and local, state, and federal laws.
  • Ensure all records specific to student health and wellness programs and services are developed and maintained.
  • Prepare reports and deliver presentations on student health and wellness programs, services and issues and provide training to university staff and faculty surrounding these issues and services.
  • Investigate and pursue wellness-related grants and outside funding sources.
 
Preferred Schedule: 
Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cleary and Drug Free Schools and Communities Acts. Interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, yet collaboratively and strong program planning and facilitation skills are required.
  • Demonstrated skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, workshops, trainings, individual behavior change sessions, and small group discussion/facilitation;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks;
  • Familiarity with social marketing and health communications strategies
  • Ability and knowledge to build successful partnerships in fostering education and prevention programs.
Minimum Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Education, Health Promotion, Counseling Public Health, College Student Personnel or a related field, is required
Preferred Education:
  • Master’s degree in health education, health promotion, public health, community health, health policy, or closely related field.
Required Experience:
  • Minimum two years experience in wellness related programming, health education, student personnel or related health promotion work preferably in a higher education environment
  • Evidence of ability to provide leadership and problem-solving skills in analyzing health promotion needs of emerging adults, especially graduate level students.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Cleary and Drug Free Schools and Communities Acts. Interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
  • Ability to work independently, yet collaboratively and strong program planning and facilitation skills are required.
  • Demonstrated skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, workshops, trainings, individual behavior change sessions, and small group discussion/facilitation;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks;
  • Familiarity with social marketing and health communications strategies
  • Ability and knowledge to build successful partnerships in fostering education and prevention programs.
Preferred Experience:
  • Ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to college students and assess its applicability and utility for effectiveness
  • Quantitative and qualitative research skills (e.g., research design, survey development, environmental assessment, focus group design and facilitation, data analysis and interpretation, etc.);
 
Field: Health education, promotion or counseling
 
Certification: Desirable but not required:
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or
  • Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES);
