WCWI announces new Executive Director!

The Wellness Council of Wisconsin (WCWI) is pleased to announce its new Executive Director, Marissa Kalkman. Marissa comes to WCWI with a unique and proficient skillset in workplace well-being gathered from her experience as a consultant, program manager, health educator and coach. She applies her expertise as a health and well-being consultant by partnering with organizations to design and implement award-winning wellness strategies. Marissa is most excited to join the mission of the Wellness Council of Wisconsin and support the members with her energy and creativity, results-oriented instincts and her passion for progressing the wellness industry and impacting positive change.

 

As a wellness leader throughout her career, Marissa is a member of several industry organizations and has served in community-based health and wellness leadership positions. Prior to joining the WCWI team, Marissa worked as an employee health and well-being consultant for an insurance brokerage and consulting firm, a health promotion program manager for a State-sponsored employee wellness program and held additional program manager and health educator roles in both worksite and community settings. 

 

Marissa has a strong education and training background in health promotion and well-being. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Public Health Education, and a Master’s degree in Applied Health Science, Health Promotion from Indiana University. She’s a Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist, and completed Wellness Coach training through Wellcoaches School of Coaching. Her personal and professional aspirations align, and she’s driven to inspire and empower others to live healthful, active and fulfilling lives. For fun outside of work, you will most often find her spending time with her family, exercising and trying a variety of intense workouts, or enjoying the outdoors - hiking, camping, skiing and paddle boarding!
