The WCWI board of directors works diligently to ensure that our board is representative of WCWI’s membership including diversity of industry, workforce, size and regional location, as well as inclusive of a variety of viewpoints, expertise and experience. Most importantly, we welcome leaders who will advocate for WCWI’s vision and mission throughout the state, and those who are dedicated to the continued growth and impact of the organization.
During the review process, we considered the current needs of the organization and the board. From the thorough review and discussion over the past several months, the Board formally recommended to the members of the corporation that Maggie Joos be elected to WCWI’s Board of Directors. The members at large voted Maggie into the Board at the end of December 2023.
After several years of figuring out what she wanted to be when she grew up, Maggie realized she kept circling around one topic – food. She went to college at the University of South Carolina to get a hospitality management degree with the goal of opening a restaurant but realized the hours didn't work if she wanted to have a life. After a few years of testing the waters as an entrepreneur in other industries, Maggie has finally found her home as the owner of The Real Good Life, Milwaukee’s best meal delivery service.
When not at the work kitchen, Maggie can probably be found at her home kitchen making creations for her two daughters and husband or reading one of the roughly 5,000 books she just brought home from the library. Otherwise, she's definitely hiding in a corner with a chocolate chip cookie she has absolutely no intention of sharing.
Maggie’s entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to her community combined with her previous experiences in events, membership and program development, governance, and marketing will contribute greatly to the future successes of WCWI. Her passion for wellness is evident.
“Food is my gateway to everything. I don’t look at it just for nutritional wellness, but also the emotional tie. Separately, I have my 200-hour yoga certification. I find value in exercise and meditation for both physical and mental health”.
-- Maggie Joos
