The Problem:

Strengthening a culture of belonging and embedding inclusive best practices throughout the organization
requires everyone’s involvement. When leaders, managers and employees are indifferent and resistant to efforts, progress is slow, exhausting for those tasked with accountability and unsustainable.

Continuing Education Credit (CEC)
This course will be available for continuing education credits.

The Solution

The Belonging Builder inclusive leadership development experience motivates leaders who may be indifferent or resistant to diversity and inclusion to instill inclusive behaviors in their daily interactions and decisions to authentically advance a culture of belonging. This approach to inclusive leadership doesn't demand expertise in other cultures or having all the right answers. It centers on self-awareness, curiosity, active listening, and a genuine willingness to learn and adapt.

The experience addresses the key reasons for indifference and resistance to inclusion and belonging at work:

  1. Lack of understanding of and alignment on what belonging is and why it matters.
  2. Fear of making mistakes.
  3. Not sure what to do beyond training.
Outcomes

At the end of the experience, participants will:

  • Articulate why belonging matters to them and their work, strengthening organizational culture goalsthrough personalization.
  • Establish personal action plan to apply an inclusive lens to their work, advancing a culture of belonging through daily interactions and decisions.
  • Deepen connections, trust and understanding among colleagues, laying a foundation for honest dialogue to support ongoing collaboration and collective growth.
The Experience

The experience features a series of interactive discovery sessions to be discussed with colleagues and team members in small groups. Engage with short explainer videos, reflection exercises, discussion questions and collaboration tools to capture and share insights. Track progress through completion reports and measure impact with before and after surveys.

WCWI professional development opportunities are approved for SHRM, CHES, & NWI continuing educations units.
