Program Description:
Authenticity in the workplace is cultivating a psychologically safe environment where people can freely be themselves – to feel safe and valued for having a voice, to express disagreement, and communicate what they really care about. When employees fear being authentic at work it can lead to lack of trust in leadership, low engagement, poor self-esteem and workplace loneliness. As wellness professionals, you are in a unique position to challenge the status-quo of “business-as-usual” and explore new opportunities to optimize employee wellbeing. 
This collaborative session will help you define what authenticity means in your workplace, and understand the importance of creating a psychologically safe environment. We’ll explore how creativity, connection, and compassion contribute to authenticity in the workplace. You’ll leave the session with three actionable steps to promote authenticity through organizational change to influence employee wellbeing. 
Learning Objectives:
  1. Define what authenticity means within your respective workplace and construct a 3-step plan to manage the change.
  2. Recognize how creativity, connection, and compassion activate an authentic workplace to support employee wellbeing.
  3. Identify obstacles to incorporating authenticity into your organizational culture.
We will explore the following questions during our discussion:
  • How does authenticity help or hurt our relationships at work?
  • What challenges do you foresee promoting authenticity within various levels of your organization (e.g. leadership, departments, individual)?
  • What data would help support your case to allocate resources, promote authenticity, and combat workplace loneliness?
  • How can business professionals impact this type of organizational change?
