Title: The Workplace of the Future: An Ideation Session

Description: The workplace of the future will be different than it is today. But just how different will it be? There are many human capital, macroeconomic and technology trends that impact the workplace, including: how people are employed, such as the gig economy; new built environment standards, such as the WELL Building Standard that considers the people in the workplace in all aspects of building design and operation; workplace culture focus on diversity and inclusion; and technology trends that include artificial intelligence and robotics. In this interactive ideation session participants will play the role of futurist to design the workplace of the future. This ideation session will engage participants in considering current trends in the areas of technology, workplace culture, employee experience and built environment to create a vision for the workplace of the future, with employee wellbeing as a foundational element.

Michelle Spehr is a health and wellness consultant with The Benefits Services Group where she provides strategic direction and assistance with the planning, implementing, and evaluating of employer-sponsored health promotion and wellness initiatives. Her approach involves expanding the wellness value proposition beyond reducing employee health risks to creating the conditions where employees can bring their best selves to work each day. In 2015 Michelle was recognized as the Employee Benefit Adviser (EBA) Wellness Adviser of the Year and her professional credentials include certifications as a Master's level Health Education Specialist (MCHES), a Worksite Wellness Program Consultant (CWWPC) and Faculty designation from WELCOA. She also serves as a board member for the UW Health and Wellness Management program and the Wellness Compliance Institute.
Mari Ryan, CEO and founder of AdvancingWellness, is an expert in worksite wellbeing. She leverages over 30 years of business experience in various marketing, consulting and executive roles across a variety of different industries. For the past decade, Ms. Ryan has been creating healthier businesses and impacting the lives of employees, through her consulting work and speaking on worksite wellbeing. Mari earned a Bachelor Degree from Lesley University, an MBA from Boston University, a Master’s degree in Health Promotion from Nebraska Methodist College, and is a certified Worksite Wellness Consultant. She is the founder and former Board Chair of the Worksite Wellness Council of Massachusetts, and is a member of the Board of Directors of Health Promotion Advocates and Global Women 4 Wellbeing. Mari is an active member of the National Speakers Association. Mari is the author of The Thriving Hive: How People-Centric Organizations Ignite Engagement and Fuel Results.
