Title: Wellness Coaching: Employee & Patient Experiences

Description: Wellness Coaching continues to gain popularity and is being incorporated into many employee and patient wellness programs. Given these exciting advances, the goal of this session is to share experiences regarding best practices when working with employees and collaborating as a member of a primary care health care team. This session will review Mayo Clinic’s Wellness Coaching model, provide case studies and potential strategies to use during coaching sessions, and review findings from qualitative interviews of both employee and patients programs. We will review the role of the wellness coach within the sustainable behavior change model of the Healthy Living Program.

Sara completed a Bachelor’s of Science in Health, Exercise & Rehabilitative Science: Exercise Science and a Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Winona State University. Additionally, Sara holds certifications from American College of Sports Medicine as a Personal Trainer, is a Mayo Clinic Certified Wellness Coach, and a Level 1 Certified Trainer for CrossFit. Sara began her career as an Assistant Coordinator of Integrated Wellness and Wellness Coach at Winona State University where she developed, implemented and evaluated wellness programs for effectiveness and satisfaction. Sara continued her career as a Wellness Program Facilitator at Rochester Public Schools, where she led efforts in developing comprehensive wellness programs for schools, created partnerships with vendors and community organizations, and was a member of Rochester’s Wellness Works Steering Committee. Sara joined Mayo Clinic in 2014 as a Wellness Coach for the Healthy Living Program, but quickly moved into the Program Manager position of the Resiliency domain.
