Skill Building Session II
Title: Designing Buildings for Health and Wellness
Speaker: Jessica Rose Cooper, Chief Commercial Officer, International WELL Building Institute
Description: The WELL Building Standard is the first protocol of its kind to focus exclusively on human health and wellness in the built environment. WELL identifies specific conditions, that when holistically integrated into building architecture and design, can enhance the health and wellbeing of occupants.
Jessica, Chief Commercial Officer of the International WELL Building Institute, will share emerging innovations and evidence-based research about how we can design buildings specifically to support the health and wellness of the people who live, work and learn in them. Topics will include an introduction to the WELL Building Standard, lab-based research that supports the benefits of healthy buildings, early examples of WELL spaces, the best innovations in technology, health, science, design for the worksite today, and performance-based metrics for health and wellness in the built environment.
The time has come to elevate human health and comfort to the forefront of building practices and reinvent buildings that are not only better for the planet – but also for people. The presentation will help you incorporate health into the design of the built environment (for both existing and new buildings) as a vehicle to support human health, well-being and comfort.
