Title: Defining the Gray Area Under Current Wellness Law

Description: There are an abundance of complicated laws that apply to an employer’s effective administration of its wellness arrangement. This presentation will identify and examine the legal landmines of the wellness industry. We will then explore possible compliance solutions so that employers can deal with the challenges and risks of certain wellness arrangements. Kirk A. Pelikan, of Michael, Best & Friedrich, LLP, will lead an interactive discussion about the legal environment affecting worksite wellness and how to remain legally compliant. Participants should expect a healthy discussion of the Affordable Care Act, HIPAA, GINA, and the ADA.

Kirk Pelikan, JD, is a partner in Michael Best’s Labor and Employment Relations Practice Group. Mr. Pelikan has broad experience in assisting clients with both benefit and labor and employment issues. Mr. Pelikan routinely works with clients to develop and maintain effective compliance strategies related to defined benefit plans, defined contribution plans, executive compensation and welfare benefit plans, including wellness compliance, COBRA, HIPAA compliance, and family and medical leave. He further represents clients in employment issues including workplace discrimination, return to work and accommodation.
