Putting the Power of Storytelling to Work

October 12 | 10:00-11:00 AM

The stories we tell have power.  They can motivate, inspire and provide hope. Every day, we tell ourselves and others stories about our work and life… about why we show up, why we do the work, and why it’s all worth it. Research shows that stories are 22 times more memorable than facts. Narrative goes where facts can’t take us: our hearts. Surprisingly, it is an often-untapped resource in business and wellbeing.  Join this session to gain deeper understanding of the power of storytelling as a tool to help organizations engage employees and inspire them to care for themselves and each other. Utilizing a simple framework for storytelling, participants will begin to identify content for stories worth telling in your organization and to those you serve.

Objectives:

  • Explain how storytelling engages the mind and body
  • Describe a storytelling framework that can be utilized to influence and open individuals up to possibilities
  • Identify elements of value within your organization worth telling stories about

We craft the narrative

We remain students of the human experience. We continuously listen and respond to our members’ voices and to the needs of our people. We tell the stories of the data, the workforce, Wisconsin’s employers, and our fellow wellbeing strategists.
