Internship Opportunities

We are currently seeking a marketing intern!

Wellness Council marketing intern(s) will be responsible for:

  • Assist with the creation of an organizational marketing plan for attracting new membership and reaching a broader audience for program offerings
  • Assist with the design/redesign of organizational materials and website
  • Marketing or communications major, website design, and strong computer skills a must

Learning Outcomes:

As a result of completing an internship with the Wellness Council, our intern(s) will learn more about:

  • How to build a successful worksite wellness program based on the best practices of employers nationwide
  • The needs, interests, and challenges of employers with respect to worksite health promotion
  • Local, state, and national resources related to health and worksite health promotion
  • Marketing and sales techniques for promoting programs, products, and membership to businesses with an interest in health promotion at the worksite
  • Maintaining a website and working databases
  • Interpersonal communication skills associated with working with existing and prospective members, volunteers on the Council’s board of directors and ad hoc committees, and local and national staff

Major Responsibilities:

Wellness Council intern(s) will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to increase membership including exhibiting at area events, telemarketing, follow-up with identified leads, and maintenance of an active database of prospective members
  • Assisting in the provision of services to existing members including responding to requests for information, preparing and distributing mailings, and site visits to selected employers
  • Developing and executing strategies to enhance and increase customer usage of existing services such as the Wellness Council’s lending library and resource directory
  • Coordinating enhancement and routine maintenance of the Wellness Council’s website
  • Maintaining regular communication with the Wellness Council’s national organization, Wellness Councils of America, regarding membership, new products, and other issues as required
