The Wellness Council is the only nonprofit organization in Wisconsin dedicated exclusively to helping employers design results-oriented wellness programs to maximize the health and productivity of their most valuable asset — their employees. Our vision is to improve health to empower business.
It is the belief and commitment of our board and staff that your investment will be returned many times over through the quality programs and services you receive as a member of the Wellness Council.
At A Glance
Founded in 1985 by the Wisconsin business community as a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
Membership has grown from 9 founding companies to 450 employers of all sizes and types, from manufacturing to service providers, representing more than 450,000 employees.
The cornerstone of the Wellness Council of America, WELCOA, is the "Well Workplace" Awards process; Wisconsin has over 60 employers who have been awarded the designation and recognized as one of America's Healthiest Companies.
In 2010 the City of Milwaukee was awarded official Well City USA designation. 34 employers representing over 30% of the employed workforce work for designated Well Workplaces. In 2012 the City of Racine received official Well City USA designation. Fox Cities and Oshkosh are currently working towards the designation.
